Energy Healing is an alternative therapy initiated when the body's energy circuits are restored to a natural state of balance, which triggers the body's own healing ability. Reiki is a traditional, non-invasive method of energy healing that everyone can safely use to aid in their body's innate healing ability. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
In fact, Reiki is practiced in thousands of hospitals, medical settings, and private practice all around the world. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person on an energetic level creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and well-being. Many have reported miraculous results.
While Reiki is energetic in nature, it is not a religion nor tied to any religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from our Divine Source, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religious Creator rather than having only an intellectual concept of it. While Reiki is not a religion, it is still important to live and act in a way that promotes harmony with others.
Mikao Usui, the founder of the Reiki system of natural healing, recommended that one practice certain simple ethical ideals to promote peace and harmony, which are nearly universal across all cultures.
Distance Reiki is energy healing sent by an Advanced Reiki practitioner (level II or Master) and accepted by the recipient at a distance.
Since everything is made of energy, everything is connected.
As Portland Helmich puts it in Sending Healing energy Across Space and Time: The Practice of Long-Distance Reiki, "Think of a cell phone. It’s not necessary to be in physical proximity to a caller to talk on a cell phone, as cell phones use electromagnetic radio waves to connect with other cell phones. Similarly, Reiki recipients do not need to be in physical proximity to Reiki practitioners to receive Reiki, just as practitioners don’t need to be near recipients to send it. “We follow the Reiki protocol and it connects us,” Libby says, “because we’re all one.”
While many who receive absent Reiki sit comfortably still or lie down for sessions, which may be as brief as 15 minutes, it’s not necessary to take a timeout. “You could be driving to work and receive absent Reiki,” Libby says. “The cells of the body are intelligent. They can pull in the energy and use it appropriately to activate the wellness within.” The power of the body goes well beyond the physical because there is much more to each of us than this physical human body.
Kathie Lipinski explains this well in Distant Healing and the Human Energy Field. "We also have an energy body made up of our aura (energy fields), the chakras (energy centers) and the meridians (energy pathways.) Like our physical body that takes in food to nourish it and give it energy, our energy body does the same. The energy fields take energy in, the chakras break it down, and the meridians distribute it throughout the body.
Our body is comprised of energy vibrating at different speeds. Our physical body, our thoughts, emotions, and our spiritual center, all vibrate at a particular frequency or speed. These varying vibrations or pulsations create a field around them which are often referred to as our aura or energy field. The aura is an information center and a highly perceptual system that transmits and receives messages from the external and internal environment.
Each energy layer appears different and has its own individual function. Yet, they continuously interpenetrate each other as well as the physical body. These fields can be felt through touch. It is what we perceive or sense when we scan with our hands.
The Etheric Field is the first layer of our energy body and is ¼ to 2 inches from the body. It is the energy duplicate of the physical body. The Emotional Field is where we experience feelings. It extends about 1 to 3 inches beyond the physical body. The Mental Field is associated with thoughts and mental processes. It can be sensed 3 to 8 inches from the body. The Spiritual Field is made up of four or more layers, which help us relate to our higher self and spiritual dimensions. It is activated when we meditate, pray or channel. It extends 6" to 2' beyond our physical body.
These energy fields are also referred to as our four levels of being; or our physical, mental, emotional spiritual selves."
Wellness Coaching is the application of the principals and processes of professional life coaching to the goals of lifestyle improvement for higher levels of wellness. It is an alliance between a professional coach and a person who, through the benefit of that relationship, seeks lasting lifestyle behavioral change.
Clients hire coaches because they want to achieve something. They have a goal in mind and they believe it would be more reliably realized with the help of a coach. As discussed when we outlined the flow model of coaching, it often takes investigation to get to the real topic that the client wants to address. Initial formulations of the goal may be expressed concretely as an objective of losing a certain amount of weight, running a marathon, or sleeping peacefully through the night. As topics are explored, something else may emerge as the overarching purpose that clients want to realize. It may not be weight loss as much as it is feeling good about one’s body. Perhaps an initial goal of running a marathon evolves into an objective of sustaining a high level of wellness over time. Likewise, sleeping peacefully through the night may translate into simplifying life so that anxiety and stress are not one’s daily diet.
In other words, Wellness Coaching is a regular conversation between a coach and client that facilitates discovery, movement, change and growth. The process will assist you in discovering your passions, strengths, dreams, desires and values with the intention of designing a vision of your best self. The outcome will be a partnered journey down a path of achievements that are aligned with that vision.....a path to a happier, healthier lifestyle.
