What is Reiki?
Reiki is divine healing energy.
In practice, it enables the body to go into a state of deep, restorative, regenerative relaxation. By tapping into the universal life-force energy, the Reiki practitioner is able to gently, yet greatly, reduce your stress levels and bring balance to your mind, body and spirit. Within this balance, one who receives Reiki will find a sense of wellness and peace, leading to significant improvement in quality of life.
Reiki raises your energetic vibration and strengthens your intuition. Coupled with breath-work, it can release negativity trapped within your energetic field, allowing for newness and light to enter the space that once held pain. Reiki is the purest form of love.

How does Reiki work?
Reiki is a traditional Japanese therapy that channels the universal life energy through the practitioner to the recipient. This unseen “life force energy” flows through literally everything. In acupuncture, it is called Qi and, within the ayurvedic field, it is known as Prana.
In the western world, this may at first seem difficult for the logical mind to understand because we tend to comprehend only what we can see. Yet, in elementary school science class, we learn that there are energy particles making up every form of matter whether it be a solid, a liquid or a gas.
What researchers once thought to be empty space surrounding the protons, neutrons and electrons, is now acknowledged as the very ‘stuff’ that causes anything to work, function or come to be. Energy exists within all forms of matter and space, objects and fields, including in and around our bodies.

What does a Reiki practitioner do?
When receiving this “hands-on” healing modality, Reiki practitioners use their hands to work with, and help heal your life force energy.
Western Reiki focuses on a whole body treatment using different hand positions to work with the body’s chakras and meridian energy lines. The recipient typically lies down fully clothed on a massage table and relaxes, allowing the Reiki practitioner to lightly place their hands on or above both the front and the back of their body.
The practitioners use no instruments, but instead serve as a conduit for the energy flow. Thus, the healing does not come from the practitioner nor does anything worked on stay within the Reiki practitioner. Like a faucet that can be turned on and off, the Reiki practitioner is able to be an empty, or hollow, vessel through which the energy like water flows in order to achieve equilibrium.
Reiki is a non-invasive, gentle form of energy medicine that is both safe and effective for many levels of healing. It can be done hands-on (or off), in person, or from a distance to help alleviate stress, anxiety, relationships, physical, emotional and spiritual traumas.
